The Issues That Matter Most
to Our Community

Putting People First. Delivering Real Solutions.
Policies shaped by listening, collaboration, and the real needs of St. Mary’s County residents.

Strengthening Mental Health & Crisis Response

I support strengthening mental health services through coordinated crisis response that connects people to help quickly and effectively. My work with veterans has shown how early, professional intervention can prevent crises from escalating. Pairing mental health professionals with first responders improves public safety, diverts people from jail or emergency rooms, and reduces repeat emergencies; ultimately saving the county money. Just as important is ensuring mental health resources are placed where people actually need them, embedded within our communities rather than centralized or hard to access. Ignoring mental health strains law enforcement, hospitals, and families. As County Commissioner, I will work with community partners to attract and expand accessible mental health services here in St. Mary’s County.

Education

Public education is one of the most effective tools we have to reduce poverty, strengthen our workforce, and support families. Education funding has not kept pace with inflation, unfunded mandates, or the true cost of educating today’s students; including transportation, pre-K, special education, multilingual learners, and students living in poverty. While we should examine state mandates, supporting public education must remain a priority. From my experience serving our country and seeing communities around the world, I’ve learned that education is one of the strongest investments we can make. For many children, school is also a place of safety, stability, and sometimes their most reliable source of meals. As County Commissioner, I will advocate for honest, responsible investment in our schools.

Workforce Housing & Economic Stability

I believe workforce housing is essential to a strong, stable local economy. When teachers, nurses, deputies, and essential workers can afford to live in the communities they serve, our businesses stay staffed and our services remain reliable. Workforce housing reduces turnover, shortens commutes, and helps retain experienced workers. That starts with clearly defining what workforce housing means for St. Mary’s County; reflecting local wages, costs of living, and the needs of our workforce, not one-size-fits-all labels. This is not about expanding government, but about removing a barrier that weakens our economy and threatens long-term stability. As County Commissioner, I will work with community partners to develop practical, locally grounded solutions that address workforce housing in St. Mary’s County.

Fiscal Responsibility

I believe in responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars; identifying potential waste, setting clear priorities, and ensuring every dollar works for our community. Smart, disciplined budgeting isn’t just good policy; it’s respect for the people who earn and pay those dollars. That means aligning our spending priorities with what residents consistently say they need most, not with political agendas or pressure from special interests. I am firmly committed to fiscal responsibility and will not waver under political pressure. Before raising taxes yet again—something my opponent ran his campaign on and promised not to do, but has voted for every year—we must first address waste and prioritize essential services. Affordability matters: if families can’t afford to live here, the things we choose to fund won’t benefit them. My focus is keeping St. Mary’s County a place people can afford to stay and thrive.

Issues

Limiting rental application fees

I will explore options to limit housing rental application fees in St. Mary’s County to reduce barriers for renters. This includes promoting fee transparency, encouraging reusable screening reports, and protecting applicants from excessive costs, while still allowing landlords to responsibly cover legitimate expenses.

Simplify small business regulations

I will work to simplify regulations and processes for small businesses in St. Mary’s County, making it easier for them to start, operate, transfer, move, and grow.

Limiting or eliminating dynamic pricing

I will explore limiting or eliminating dynamic pricing practices in St. Mary’s County to protect consumers from unpredictable and unfair price increases. Families deserve transparency and stability, not sudden spikes that make everyday costs harder to manage.

Hosting town halls

I will host personal town halls every month across the county to listen to residents and address issues directly. Staying connected to the people of St. Mary’s County is a priority, and I am committed to continuing this practice to better serve our community.

Simplify voting processes

I will explore ways to simplify the process for voters and candidates registering as Independents in St. Mary’s County, making it easier for residents to participate fully in our democratic process.

Explore Lexington Park becoming incorporated

I will explore the idea of Lexington Park becoming an incorporated town, working with residents and stakeholders to determine whether incorporation could improve local services, accountability, and community representation.
